The Thurston’s program derived from the Langlands global program with singularities

چکیده

The seven geometries H , S , H × R , S × R , PSL2(R ) , Nil and Sol of the Thurston’s geometrization program are proved to originate naturally from singularization morphisms and versal deformations on euclidean 3 -manifolds generated in the frame of the Langlands global program. The Poincare conjecture for a 3 -manifold appears as a particular case of this new approach of the Thurston’s program.

Gauge Theory and Wild Ramification

The gauge theory approach to the geometric Langlands program is extended to the case of wild ramification. The new ingredients that are required, relative to the tamely ramified case, are differential operators with irregular singularities, Stokes phenomena, isomonodromic deformation, and, from a physical point of view, new surface operators associated with higher order singularities.

Gauge Theory and the Geometric Langlands Program

The Langlands program of number theory, or what we might call Langlands duality, was proposed in more or less its present form by Robert Langlands, in the late 1960s. It is a kind of unified scheme for many results in number theory ranging from quadratic reciprocity, which is hundreds of years old, to modern results such as Andrew Wiles’ proof of Fermat’s last theorem, which involved a sort of ...

Thu, Nov 16, 3:30pm Matt Szczesny (Boston Univ.) The Langlands program: from arithmetic to conformal field theory This will be a very elementary attempt to trace the sequence of analogies that lead from the Langlands program for global fields to the geometric formulation given by A. Beilinson and V. Drinfeld. I will attempt to explain the formulation of the latter in the language of conformal f...

The geometric Langlands correspondence has been interpreted as the mirror symmetry of the Hitchin fibrations for two dual reductive groups. This mirror symmetry, in turn, reduces to T–duality on the generic Hitchin fibers, which are smooth tori. In this paper we study what happens when the Hitchin fibers on the B-model side develop orbifold singularities. These singularities correspond to local...
